The Highlights... Part 1

Our week in Utah was the best.

We hung out with friends, ate lots of yummy food, did some great shopping and we were spiritually fed.

Sunday morning we went to the Conference Center and listened to

Music and the Spoke Word.

It was magical.

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir is amazing and it brought a tear to my eye when they sang

"God Be With You" at the conclusion of the broadcast.

We spent the whole next day in the Salt Lake Temple and on Temple Square so Deeg and A-J could do baptisms.

It was the temple's first day open after the maintenance closure. So it was VERY busy.

It took 3 hours waiting our turn , but it was worth it.

I loved walking around grounds afterwards and taking photos!

The weather was sunny one minute and cloudy and stormy the next, as you can tell from the photos.

The USA Part 1

We are home from our travels.

I am still jet lagged I think. I want to go to bed at 7:30pm and I wake up at 3:44am every morning, force myself to go back to sleep for a bit and then get up at 5am.

It must be jet lag cause if you know me well you know that getting up at 5am is just simply absurd.

We spent two days in Disneyland and California Adventure park.

we all loved it, but we all agreed that California Adventure Park was our favourite. I think maybe because it is geared more to older children / people???

I really liked what it said on this plaque.

I agree with Walt Disney.

He has indeed created a place where parents and their children can have fun together.

The highlight for me was "World of Color" (American spelling).

It is a spectacular display of laser lights, water and fire.

They project images onto the wall of water they create.
It is set to music and I would have to say is on the do not miss list.

 The photos don't do it justice.

It was truly amazing.

A Travel Journal

I took an online scrapbooking class on Saturday, in amongst the washing, dropping off children at friend's houses, a quick trip to the shop and cooking dinner.

I have been a fan of Ali Edwards work for some time and when I noticed she offered an online class and it was only US $14 I thought "Why not"?

Scrapbook on the Road

This type of album is a work in progress.

You assemble it at home.

Take it with you on your trip.

Add to it by journalling and collecting stuff on your trip.

Add the photos and any finishing touches at home after the trip.

My album contains blank pages (which I have stamped to make

them look a bit more interesting)

I have some envelope pockets to collect ticket stubs,

business cards from places we eat or shop at.

You can see this is one of my blank pages. I used a day of the week stamp

so all I have to do when I journal this day is circle the day of the week.

There is also a file card on the right which I will use as a pocket for stuff I collect. 

This one shows another blank page but with a larger pocket on the right.

This page has patterned paper and twill tape stapled on top of it.

Here is the back cover.

The album was chipboard, spiral bound but I took off the spiral binding

and used binding rings instead. There was an even number of holes so

 that's why I have two rings in the middle. I couldn't have one ring off centre!

The best thing about this project was that I bought nothing for it!

I used supplies out of my stash and even used some of my stamps for the first time.

Now all I have to do is remember to pack it with some glue, adhesive,

a couple of pens and a small hole punch.
